William Howard Ballpark First Pitch

EL DORADO, Ark. – The community is invited to celebrate a historic milestone for local athletics and recreation at "First Pitch," the official grand opening celebration of William Howard Ballpark on December 1.

Gates will open at 5:00 p.m., with the ceremonial First Pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Admission for this event will be FREE with no reserved seating. The event will mark the opening of one of South Arkansas's newest premier baseball facilities and the future home of the South Arkansas College Stars Baseball Team.

The first 100 children through the gates will receive a commemorative baseball autographed by current SouthArk Stars players, giving young fans a special keepsake from this landmark event.

William Howard Ballpark represents a successful partnership between South Arkansas College and the City of El Dorado, demonstrating a shared commitment to expanding opportunities for student-athletes, supporting community recreation, and enhancing quality of life throughout the region.

Funding for the project was made possible primarily through generous donations and revenue generated through El Dorado's voter-approved sales tax initiative, which has helped fund transformational projects throughout the community.

"This ballpark is more than a baseball field—it's a symbol of what can be accomplished when education, local government, businesses, and the community work together toward a common vision," said Jenny Sanders, provost and athletic director at SouthArk. "We are excited to open the gates and welcome families, fans, and supporters to celebrate this incredible addition to El Dorado."

As the new home of South Arkansas College Stars Baseball, William Howard Ballpark will provide a first-class venue for student-athletes while serving as a gathering place for youth sports, sports tourism, community events, and family entertainment for years to come.

Fans interested in following the Stars throughout the season can still purchase general admission season and single game tickets by visiting www.southarkstars.com.

Community members are encouraged to arrive early, enjoy the festivities, and be part of the official opening of a facility that will serve generations of athletes and baseball fans.
