South Arkansas Women’s Basketball spent Friday morning inspiring the next generation at West Wood Head Start & ABC Pre-School in El Dorado. From welcoming students to school and shooting hoops to sharing smiles and extending invitations to a future home game, the Lady Stars continue their commitment to making a difference both on and off the court.
EL DORADO, Ark. – The South Arkansas College Women’s Basketball team stepped away from the court Friday, Oct. 24, to make a special visit to West Wood Head Start & ABC Pre-School, creating a memorable morning for students and staff alike.
The Lady Stars welcomed children as they arrived at school, spent time shooting hoops, sharing laughs, and encouraging the young students throughout the morning. Players also extended a special invitation for the children and their families to attend an upcoming South Arkansas home game this season.
Under the leadership of Head Coach John Thomas Ryan and Assistant Coach Jody Bussey, the program is committed to becoming a stronger presence in the community. As the season progresses, the coaching staff hopes to continue building relationships through outreach opportunities across El Dorado and South Arkansas.
For many of the players, the visit was especially meaningful. Several have younger siblings of their own and cherished the opportunity to brighten a child’s day while serving as positive role models.
The Lady Stars will open the season on the road in Pratt, Kansas, facing Labette Community College on Oct. 30 and Pratt Community College on Oct. 31. South Arkansas will make its home debut on Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. against Eastern Oklahoma.
As the season begins, the Lady Stars are focused on making an impact both on the court and throughout the community they proudly represent.
